In 1944 the USS Enterprise and the Carrier Task Forces pushed on through the Pacific Ocean and hammered the enemy bases at Kwajalien and Truk Lagoon. The Japanese made a desperate stand in the Marshall Islands. From the Marshalls, Enterprise set a course for New Guinea and supported the invasion of Hollandia during Operation Persecution.
