During the Second World War, Britain saw Nazi prisoners of war as a potential threat and sent some 40,000 of them to Canada. Here we examine how they created a new life for themselves after the war.
We follow the POW’s experience of transition from warrior to captive and their obsessive, often comical attempts to get back to Germany. Excellent dramatic recreations and surprising interviews with former prisoners open the door to the reality of this period, that several hundred of these former prisoners returned to Canada to build new lives for themselves.
