Volunteer Moderators
The History Channel is looking for volunteer moderators to assist with the moderation of the official messageboards.
We are looking for individuals who are able to lead debate as well as respond diplomatically to other users' requirements and views in order to provide a forum that is welcoming to all users. Moderators will be given guidance on best practice procedures and on the moderation systems that are in use.

Digital Media Manager - The History Channel UK
JOB DESCRIPTION
• Oversee the creative and operational development of venture online & mobile properties (History, Biography, Crime and Investigation) and support company objectives for the brands including revenue, programming, and marketing goals
• Direct the redevelopment, implementation and management of user-centric set of websites consistent with the brands core brand attributes
• Manage and oversee 2 staff and external vendors, including designers and producers
• Partner with internal teams (marketing, programming) on brand, programming and marketing strategy and execute a unified brand and editorial vision for the branded websites
• Work with the Commercial Director, Ad Sales and Sponsorship teams and other division groups to define revenue goals for the websites/ digital properties
• Work closely with AETN product development, production and technology teams to identify and implement new processes and technologies for products to enhance the sites
• As part of the management team, participate in setting long term strategy planning for digital media development
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS
• Experience managing a successful online site
• Sophisticated understanding of digital media trends and competitors and a vision of how to best leverage the brands in the rapidly shifting digital media space
• Extensive experience with and knowledge of online consumer behavior
• Demonstrated knowledge of building, growing and monetizing online communities
• Experience, or significant knowledge of, managing a P&L
• Significant experience in directing development and operation of a web-based content products presence including managing creative and production teams and setting creative and strategic direction

Client Service Executive - The History Channel UK
The History Channel UK is an international multiplatform network comprising The History Channel, The History Channel HD, The Biography Channel and the Crime and Investigation Network, and is a Joint Venture between BSKYB and AETN. We are looking to recruit a London-based Client Service Executive for an excellent opportunity to coordinate sales support for linear and non-linear network development across the UK & Eire, Scandinavia, the Benelux, Central Europe and Africa. The role would suit a highly motivated individual with experience in European television sales and marketing. The successful candidate must be hard-working with enthusiasm and adaptability.
Requirements
• Should have experience in trade event coordination and management
• Must have skills and experience in dealing with clients at a high level
• Must have an understanding of television distribution business concepts and a background of international affiliate sales and marketing would be a major advantage

Responsibilities

Summary of role
Responsible for all creative content and third party relationships across a range of consumer websites; The History Channel, The Biography Channel and the Crime and Investigation Network. Working closely with channel departments and external website agencies to promote programming, initiate new site developments and produce entertaining and informative websites.
Key responsibilities:
• Editorial responsibility for sourcing, producing and editing web content.
• Daily update of sites and management of third-party content including uploading web content via a bespoke CMS with Photoshop manipulated images and additional html coding.
• Assisting with or leading new web-based project initiatives.
• Production of monthly e-newsletters.
• Commissioning and supervising a team of freelance writers.
• Managing relationship with and work schedule of external website agency.

Tape Traffic Assistant - The History Channel
The History Channel UK broadcasts The History Channel, The History Channel HD, The Biography Channel and the Crime & Investigation Network, as well as several international feeds, and is a joint venture between BSkyB and A & E Television Networks.
Reporting to the Operations Manager and working alongside the Tape Traffic Co-ordinator, the Tape Traffic Assistant will help to ensure the smooth trafficking of all programme tapes; from receiving new programme material through to delivery to Transmission.
Key responsibilities:
• Effectively co-ordinating the delivery and trafficking of programme tapes.
• Correctly preparing and maintaining the Daily Programme Lists and other data in BSS.
• Contacting distributors about tape deliveries.
• Assisting with dubbing and mpegging requirements for international channels.
• Assisting with quality checking of mpegs and tape dubs.
• Arranging tape shipments.
• Some administrative duties for The Biography Channel Programme Scheduling department.
• Various other administrative duties.

Contributions to the Site

Where you are invited to submit any contribution to the Site (including any text, photographs, graphics, video or audio) you agree, by submitting your contribution, to grant History a perpetual, royalty-free, non-exclusive, sub-licenseable right and licence to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, create derivative works from, distribute, perform, play, make available to the public, and exercise all copyright and publicity rights with respect to your contribution worldwide and/or to incorporate your contribution in other works in any media now known or later developed for the full term of any rights that may exist in your contribution, and in accordance with privacy restrictions set out in History's Privacy Policy. 10. Further to clause 9, by submitting your contribution to the Site, you:
10.1 warrant that your contribution;
10.1.1 is your own original work and that you have the right to make it available to History for all the purposes specified above;
10.1.2 is not defamatory; and
10.1.3 does not infringe any law; and
10.2 indemnify History against all legal fees, damages and other expenses that may be incurred by History as a result of your breach of the above warranty; and

History welcomes feedback, both positive and negative, about its programmes and services but please make sure your comments are in line with the above Community Rules. Repeatedly posting personal or offensive comments about individual members of the public or people who work for History may be considered harassment. If you use multiple logins for the purpose of disrupting the community or annoying other users you may have action taken against your accounts.
