Greville, Charles Cavendish Fulke (1794–1865)

English diarist. He was private secretary to Earl Bathurst and Clerk of the Council in Ordinary 1821–59, an office which brought him into close contact with all the personalities of the court and of both political parties. They provided him with much of the material for his Memoirs 1817–60.

In accordance wth his request that his diaries should be published soon after his death, instalments appeared in 1875, covering the years 1820–37; in 1885, covering 1837–51; and in 1887, covering 1852–60.
